Rosso, 1975

Corsica, Domaine de Torraccia - C. Imbert

Whilst there are many excellent domains to visit in Corsica, it is Christian Imbert, who started the Torraccia vineyards from scratch some 50 years ago, who is considered the father of modern Corsican wines. He was instrumental in improving the wines of Corsica and a fervent exponent of the traditional grapes, preserving the typicity of the Nielluccio, Sciacarello and Vermentino wines with passion in his belief that they were the only way forward for Corsican wines. His vineyards, now run by his son Marc, are still predominantly using these traditional varieties and producing wine renowned for ageing well.

Sandeman

50 Year Old Tawny Port
***95 Points- GOLD- Decanter 2023***

Beautiful pale tawny in colour. The 50-Year-Old Tawny is exceptionally pronounced and complex in aroma profile. Intense aromas of dried fruits, roasted walnuts, toffee and spice burst out of the glass. Velvety smooth on the palate, with a bright acidity keeping the decadent flavours on the straight and narrow and all culminating in a deliciously lingering finish.

There are few more iconic images in the world of wine than the ‘Don’, the logo created for the Sandeman family in 1928 by George Massiot Brown. The cape was modelled on the attire worn by university students in Porto, while the wide-brimmed hat was a nod to the family’s presence in Jerez.

Sandeman, 1975

Vintage Port
Port Buyers recommendation Damaged labels- Rewaxed

1975 was a declared vintage and the vintage ports have a lighter style. The 1975 Sandeman is well above average, represents good value and has a good provenance. It is a pale ruby colour. Morello cherries, black berries and liquorice on the nose which has a slightly roasted quality. Slightly treacle like on the palate, with notes of honey and mocha. A fairly light, sweet style at this point. Good medium-long finish. Will hold for a few more years" Dr T Carter notes from Sandeman V20 Tasting London 2014.

These bottles have been shipped to us by Sandeman from their cellars in Oporto where
