We are delighted to offer exclusively Quinta das Carvalhas Wines and Ports. Located in prime position on the banks of the Douro River opposite Pinhao, Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the most emblematic and spectacular properties in the Douro valley. With a rich history dating back to 1759, Carvalhas is one of the jewels of the Douro. Now owned and cherished by the Silva Reis family, Carvalhas has received considerable investment and undergone a transformation in recent years to adopt a blend of sustainable, modern viticulture whilst preserving the historic century-old vines that go towards making their best wines.

Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the largest estates in the Douro Valley, holding on its old vines, one of the region's greatest collections of indigenous grapes. With various aspects and inclinations, it provides a unique terroir for local grape varietals, giving winemakers Jorge Moreira and Pedro O. Silva Reis an array of unique parcels to produce some of the finest wines and Ports in the Douro.

When the Silva Reis family purchased Port shipper Miguel Sousa Guedes and Irmaos in 1953, they acquired the iconic Quinta das Carvalhas and historic stocks that were warehoused in Nova de Gaia. Amongst these are some extremely old vintage and tawny Ports dating back to the early 1800's. We are privileged to have tasted and subsequently offer a few of these wines to our customers. Of special mention is a sublime Memorias 19th Century Tawny Port from Quinta das Carvalhas - a blend of tawny ports from 1867 and 1900.
