Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sauternes

The wine's zesty acidity brings everything into extraordinary clarity. Chateau Langoa Barton, 1970

St Julien 3rd Growth Classification - BBR labels

"A wonderfully successful wine, the 1970 Langoa smells and tastes comparable to a top Pauillac. A big, yet restrained bouquet of cedar and black currants is first rate. On the palate, the wine is ripe, weighty, rich, tannic, full bodied, and several years away from its zenith. This is Langoa at its best." Parker Bordeaux 3rd Ed.

Chateau Montrose, 1970

St Estephe 2eme Cru Classe

*** 92 Points Robert Parker ***

Reviews: "This is one 1970 that appears to possess the necessary components to develop into something special. It remains youthfully hard and astringent, but there is no doubting the high levels of concentration and intensity. Moreover, the wine exhibits a classy, complex bouquet, offering up scents of cedar, black fruits, minerals, and leather. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich, with outstanding concentration, this wine requires another 7-10 years of cellaring - can you believe that? It is unquestionably a 40-50-year wine" PArker Wine Advocate 1996

"A knockout bottle when first tasted in March 2001, when it had a complex, black dusty nose and an ultra-dense, backward, masculine palate.

Chateau Musar, 1970

Bekaar Valley, Lebanon, Gaston Hochar
Very top shoulder 73 cl bottle

A rare bottle of 1970 Chateau Musar.
Notes from Chateau Musar: Mistakenly, the most Bordeaux wine I ever made. This was unintentional. I was trying to reflect Lebanon in all its guises, all its
aspects. It had more Cabernet Sauvignon than any wine I’ve ever made, but this was when I could play as I wanted - there were no
rules to command me, so I just blended according to my palate – Serge Hochar

Tasting Notes
Dark shaded ruby; this is just the sort of colour I would expect from a 1970 red Bordeaux. Light, very Cabernet nose. If I were given
this blind I would be extremely tempted to head straight for Bordeaux, though it would have to be a comely château such as Palmer
perhaps, and a fairly ripe vintage.

Chateau Rieussec, 1970

Sauternes 1er Cru Classe

***91 Points - CellarTracker***
This beautiful Sauternes from the excellent 1970 vintage displays an orange/copper hue. On the nose and palate aromas of orange marmalade, delicate caramel, and layers of honey create a sweet and elegant wine, with great acidity which gives it verve. Drinking very nicely now, but with lots of life left.

Château Rieussec, located in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, France, is renowned for its prestigious history and exceptional sweet wines. With a heritage dating back to the 18th century, the estate's vineyards cover approximately 90 hectares, primarily planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 1970

The red wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape blossom and reach their prime between their third and fifth year, but their potential for aging is over ten years and more according to the vintage and storage conditions. Their color changes from intense garnet-purple in the early years to ruby after some cellaring. These wines are structured, with powerful and complex aromas of ripe fruit, mushrooms, truffles, underbrush, spicy notes, and wild animals.

Dolcetto, 1970

Salvano Saverio

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.
