  • Description

The 1987 Bandol Rouge from Caves de la Roque is a red wine from the Provence region of France, specifically the Bandol appellation. Bandol wines are renowned for their robust and age-worthy reds, primarily crafted from the Mourvèdre grape, often blended with Grenache and Cinsault.

    Tasting Profile:
Expect garnet colour with aromas of dark berries, earthy undertones, leather, and subtle spice. On the palate it should be full-bodied with firm tannins, flavours of black fruits, and a lingering finish.

There are three different labels of this wine listed on our website, each featuring paintings of French artist Paul Gauguin. This one here "Les Alyscamps" presents a historic Roman necropolis located in Arles, France, renowned for its tree-lined avenues and ancient tombs. In 1888, artists Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh, during a period of close collaboration, each created paintings depicting this evocative site. Gauguin's painting is a vivid portrayal of the avenue, capturing the essence of the location with his characteristic bold colours and expressive brushwork. This work reflects Gauguin's interest in conveying the emotional atmosphere of a scene rather than a literal representation.

Producer Information: Moulin de la Roque, established in 1950, is a cooperative of winemaking families dedicated to producing high-quality Bandol and Côtes-de-Provence wines. They emphasize traditional methods combined with modern techniques to ensure the excellence of their wines.
