Description

The 1963 Rebello Valente Vintage Port is a well-regarded vintage port from a legendary year for Port wines. Vintage port from 1963 is often considered among the best of the 20th century, offering excellent aging potential, structure, and complexity.

Tasting Notes: Dark garnet with amber and tawny edge. Rich and complex nose, with notes of dried fruits (like fig, raisin, and prune), nuts (walnuts, almonds), and spices (cinnamon, clove). Hints of chocolate, leather, and tobacco may also be present. Full-bodied on teh palate , with flavors of dark fruits (plum, blackcurrant) and spices. The tannins should have mellowed over time, providing a smooth mouthfeel, though the wine retains a firm structure. It may also exhibit a long, complex finish with dried fruits, spices, and earthy notes.

Ageing potential: Although it has been over 60 years since its production, vintage ports from strong years like 1963 can often age gracefully for several decades. The 1963 Rebello Valente is likely to be drinking well, though its best years might have passed, and it could be nearing the end of its peak window.
