    Tasting a 1965 Barolo from Denegri Lorenzo is a rare and special experience. Given the wine's age, it will have developed a deep complexity, with tertiary flavours dominating the profile.
    Appearance: Light garnet or brick-red colour, with a wide tawny or amber rim, indicating its advanced age. The clarity might be slightly hazy due to sediment, which is typical for wines of this age.
    Nose: The bouquet should be profoundly complex, with a strong presence of tertiary aromas. Expect notes of dried rose petals, violets, and old leather, which are characteristic of aged Barolo. Earthy aromas like truffles, underbrush, and forest floor will likely be present.
    Palate: exceptionally smooth, with tannins that have softened significantly over the decades. The acidity, while still present, will have mellowed, giving the wine a balanced structure. The primary fruit flavours will have evolved into dried or stewed fruits, with cherries, cranberries, and figs taking centre stage.
    Finish: long and ethereal, with lingering notes of dried herbs, spices, and a gentle minerality.
