    Massolino, 2019 Barolo “Margheria”

A classic single-vineyard Barolo from the renowned Margheria cru in Serralunga d’Alba, the 2019 Barolo Margheria is a beautifully structured expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s most respected traditional producers.

    Tasting Note
The nose is refined and complex, showing aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, layered with rose petal, dried herbs, liquorice and subtle earthy spice. On the palate, the wine is firm and focused, with vibrant acidity supporting flavours of crimson fruit, orange peel and mineral earthiness. Fine-grained, structured tannins give shape and length, leading to a long, savoury and well-balanced finish.

    Food Pairing
A natural match for braised beef, slow-cooked lamb, game dishes, mushroom and truffle-based recipes, and aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno.

    Serving & Cellaring
Serve at 16–18°C. Decant for 1–2 hours before drinking. Drinking well now with air, and will cellar confidently for 15–20 years.

    Why We Love It
Margheria is one of Serralunga’s great crus, and Massolino captures its hallmark power and precision with impressive finesse. A Barolo of depth, structure and classical balance, built to reward patience.

    95/100 Points
Elegant and extremely lucid in its sensorial profile, it alternates notes of raspberries, cherries, hibiscus flowers, guarana, pomegranate, lime flowers, jasmine and hawthorn. Medium-full body, velvety tannins of splendid maturity and a creamy and subtle finish that relaxes giving grace and balance in the sip. Better from 2024 onwards. Raffaele Vecchione - WinesCritic.com
