Description
Batailley is a favourite chateau of ours, producing classic claret that almost always rewards patience. Stern and unloveable in their youth, with age these wines eventually blossom into a mellow aromatically complex maturity. Just don't drink them too early!
Reviews
"The ’02 Batailley has a surprisingly deep colour. The nose displays good intensity and lift with blackberry, briary, sous-bois and a touch of bay leaf, all with fine delineation if lacking some vigour. With time in the glass, there are more tar and cedar-wood aromas emerging. The palate is medium-bodied but with a sinewy entry, rounded tannins, with notes of blackberry, cedar, pencil shavings and a touch of plum. The ’02 is a little foursquare, but decent weight and good focus" Neil Martin - Wine Journal
