Description
A 2015 vintage Bordeaux from Château Bernadotte, Haut-Médoc. Benefiting from an excellent growing season, this wine shows ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit, complemented by notes of cedar, graphite and subtle spice. The palate is well-structured with refined, rounded tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a harmonious and persistent finish. A classic expression of Médoc style wine.
The Chateau Bernadotte vineyards lie in the commune of Saint Sauveur, which lies just outside the Pauillac appellation. About 2.5 kilometres to the east is the grand puy, Grand-Puy-Lacoste and, just slightly further south, Batailley and Haut-Batailley. There are 35 hectares in all, the majority lying around Le Fournas, on the western side, although a few are dotted to the east, on the road down towards Pauillac. The soils here are a mix of sandy and gravelly clay, and the varieties planted are 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
