  • Description

The 2001 Palmer Port Colheita is a distinguished single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks to reflect the depth and character of the 2001 vintage. After more than twenty years in wood, this wine has developed remarkable complexity while retaining freshness and balance. A refined choice for collectors and Port enthusiasts. Drink now or cellar until 2030+.

    Tasting Notes:
Amber-tawny in colour with glints of gold. Aromas of dried fruits, roasted nuts, orange peel and subtle vanilla rise from the glass. On the palate, layers of caramel, fig, raisin and sweet spice are lifted by bright acidity, giving vibrancy and harmony. The finish is long, smooth and nutty, with lingering notes of dried fruits and oak.

    Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to drink and require no decanting. Serve slightly chilled (12–14°C) to accentuate freshness and aromatic complexity. This 2001 Colheita pairs beautifully with almond tart, pecan pie, crème brûlée or a board of mature cheeses. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Please store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark environment away from heat and light.

Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
