  • Description

Quevedo’s 10-Year-Old Tawny is aged in small oak barrels, which promotes oxidation and the development of complex flavours.

    Tasting Notes
Beautiful amber-tawny colour, indicative of its aging process. The nose is filled with aromas of dried fruit, cinnamon and walnuts. On the palate the nutty flavours predominate, along with a touch of coffee and chocolate. The wine has a balanced sweetness with a refreshing acidity that makes it elegant and not cloying. Long, smooth finish with lingering notes of caramel and dried fruits.

    Serving & Food Pairing:
Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.

Quevedo is an incredible, innovative producer that is very highly regarded amongst port aficionados. The family have been making port wine for generations however their produce was for merchants based in Vila Nova de Gaia. Family-owned for over 100 years, the estate is now in the capable hands of Oscar and Claudia, the new generation of winemakers. Together, they have developed and innovated to produce an outstanding portfolio of ports and still wines. The Quevedo estate and winery is in S. João da Pesqueira, a small town in the heart of Douro Valley. With 112 hectares of vineyards in prime locations, a modern winery, and generations of knowledge it is easy to see why their ports and still wines are consistently rated as outstanding.

    ***Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 90/100 points***
The 10 Year Old Tawny Port, bottled in 2015 with 111 grams per liter of residual sugar, is a blend of Touriga Franca (25%), Tinta Roriz (25%), Touriga Nacional (5%), Tinta Barroca (20%), Tinto Cão (5%) and miscellaneous "others," aged in 650-liter casks for about 12 years. This is solid and weighty for its category--Oscar Quevedo said that his tawnies are always sourced from Douro Superior, lending them a bit more concentration and requiring a bit more aging. It is not showing the highest complexity level, however, notwithstanding the 12 years in cask, but there is plenty of spice and flavor on the finish. This is lively and appealing, lacking only a little complexity--but that is not primarily what you're going to get at the 10 Year level anyway. This is a pleasure to drink.
