Description

Quevedo 10 Year Old Tawny Port

The Quevedo 10 Year Old Tawny Port is a beautifully balanced and expressive tawny, combining youthful vibrancy with the complexity gained through extended ageing in oak. Bottled in 2016, it reflects the house style of freshness, precision and elegant fruit.

The nose is rich and inviting, with aromas of dried apricot, fig and toasted almond, layered with notes of caramel, honey and a touch of orange peel. Subtle hints of spice and vanilla add further depth and complexity.

On the palate, the wine is smooth and harmonious, with a silky texture and well-integrated sweetness. Flavours of dried fruit, toffee and nuts are lifted by a fresh acidity, giving the wine balance and finesse without heaviness.

The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of caramel, spice and citrus. A classic 10 Year Old Tawny, offering both immediate pleasure and a polished, elegant style.

🍽️ Food Pairing

Perfect served slightly chilled as an aperitif or alongside desserts such as crème brûlée, nut-based pastries or aged cheeses.
Quevedo is an incredible, innovative producer that is very highly regarded amongst port aficionados. The family have been making port wine for generations however their produce was for merchants based in Vila Nova de Gaia. Family-owned for over 100 years, the estate is now in the capable hands of Oscar and Claudia, the new generation of winemakers. Together, they have developed and innovated to produce an outstanding portfolio of ports and still wines. The Quevedo estate and winery is in S. JoĂŁo da Pesqueira, a small town in the heart of Douro Valley. With 112 hectares of vineyards in prime locations, a modern winery, and generations of knowledge it is easy to see why their ports and still wines are consistently rated as outstanding.

***Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 90/100 points***
The 10 Year Old Tawny Port, bottled in 2015 with 111 grams per liter of residual sugar, is a blend of Touriga Franca (25%), Tinta Roriz (25%), Touriga Nacional (5%), Tinta Barroca (20%), Tinto CĂŁo (5%) and miscellaneous "others," aged in 650-liter casks for about 12 years. This is solid and weighty for its category--Oscar Quevedo said that his tawnies are always sourced from Douro Superior, lending them a bit more concentration and requiring a bit more aging. It is not showing the highest complexity level, however, notwithstanding the 12 years in cask, but there is plenty of spice and flavor on the finish. This is lively and appealing, lacking only a little complexity--but that is not primarily what you're going to get at the 10 Year level anyway. This is a pleasure to drink.
