Description

The 1978 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is a beautifully mature expression from one of the Douro’s most historic estates. In the glass, it shows a deep brick-red core with a tawny rim, reflecting over four decades of gentle ageing and refinement.

The nose is elegant and fully evolved, offering aromas of dried cherry, fig, and redcurrant alongside warm notes of cedar, rose petal, and soft spice. With air, subtler nuances of tobacco leaf, cocoa, and almond emerge, creating a wonderfully complex and harmonious bouquet.

On the palate, the wine is supple, graceful, and medium-bodied, with fine, resolved tannins and a silky texture. Flavours of dried red fruits, caramelised nuts, spice, and a touch of dark chocolate unfold steadily, supported by Noval’s hallmark freshness and precision. It’s a vintage that favours finesse over power.

The finish is long, mellow, and warming, leaving lingering notes of dried fruit, spice, and gentle sweetness. This is a refined, quietly impressive mature Port—perfect for those who appreciate the elegance of fully evolved Vintage Port.
