2023 Quinta do Passadouro Vintage Port

In the heart of the Pinhão Valley, the vines of Quinta do Passadouro once again reveal their magic in this superb 2023 Vintage Port. Produced in the traditional lagares by foot-treading and matured in the cool cellars of Vale de Mendiz, this wine captures the authenticity and elegance that have long defined the Passadouro style. The 2023 growing season delivered concentrated fruit and remarkable freshness, yielding a Port that is both approachable in youth and built for long life in the cellar.

In the glass, the wine displays an opaque purple hue, with a vibrant rim hinting at its youth and vitality. The nose is rich and expressive, bursting with wild blackberry, cassis and blueberry, layered with notes of violet, dark chocolate and crushed stone. Subtle hints of spice and liquorice emerge as the wine opens, reflecting the complexity of the Douro’s schist soils and ancient field blends that form the backbone of this cuvée.

On the palate, the 2023 Passadouro is full-bodied and polished, showing the hallmark balance of power and finesse. Dense black fruit flavours unfold alongside taut tannins and a lively thread of acidity that brings definition and length. The finish is long, pure and persistent, leaving impressions of plum, cocoa and fresh herbs. Though it offers immediate pleasure, the structure and intensity promise graceful evolution over the next five decades.
