Royal Oporto 1977 Vintage Port

The 1977 vintage stands among the great declared years of the modern era, and Royal Oporto’s expression offers both maturity and classic structure.

Now fully evolved, the wine presents a deep garnet colour shading gently towards brick at the rim. The nose is layered and inviting, with aromas of black cherry, dried plum and fig, complemented by notes of dark chocolate, leather, cedar and sweet spice.

On the palate, it shows impressive harmony. The once firm tannins have softened into a smooth, rounded texture, yet there remains a reassuring backbone that gives the wine shape and persistence. Flavours of rich berry compote, raisin and cocoa unfold gradually, leading into a long, warming finish with lingering spice and dried fruit complexity.

The 1977 Royal Oporto is drinking beautifully now, offering the depth and character expected of this celebrated vintage. Decant carefully to remove sediment and serve slightly cool.

A fine bottle for collectors of mature Vintage Port, and an excellent choice for marking a special 1977 celebration with a wine of enduring pedigree.
