Description

This 1995 Sassella (Valtellina Superiore) displays the refined complexity of aged Nebbiolo. The nose offers aromas of dried cherry, redcurrant, rose petal, and subtle forest floor, complemented by hints of leather, tobacco, and gentle spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with softened yet structured tannins, balanced acidity, and flavours of dried red fruit, earthy herbs, and a touch of almond. The finish is long, savoury, and harmonious, highlighting the wine’s alpine elegance and maturity.

Serve at 16–17 °C (60–63 °F) after a short decant of 20–30 minutes. Excellent with braised meats, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses such as Bitto or Parmigiano Reggiano, and roasted game. It also pairs well with hearty Piedmontese or Alpine-inspired dishes.
