Description

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. The 1976 Barolo from Serio & Battista Borgogno presents a brick garnet color with amber and tawny reflections at the rim, signaling full maturity. The wine shows clarity and finesse, typical of traditionally made Barolo from this era.

The bouquet is evolved yet expressive, offering aromas of dried rose, tar, and red tea, followed by dried cherry, cranberry, and orange peel. With time, tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, forest floor, truffle, and balsamic emerge, adding depth and complexity.

On the palate, the wine is fully resolved, with softened tannins and moderate acidity lending structure and balance. Flavors of dried red fruits, tea leaf, earthy spice, and subtle anise unfold delicately, emphasizing nuance and savory complexity over power.

The finish is medium in length, earthy and refined, with lingering impressions of dried herbs, leather, and woodland notes. Overall, this is a classic, traditionally styled Barolo that offers a thoughtful expression of aged Nebbiolo, best appreciated gently and without extended decanting.
