  • Description

Burmester Colheita, a fortified wine made from the native Tinta Cao, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca varieties, honours their terroir in Quinta do Arnozelo, in the heart of the Douro Superior region.
These vines are cultivated in a traditional way and enjoy a very special microclimate, acquiring the unique character of the D.O. Porto. The grapes are harvested by hand and then selected, destemmed and crushed in the winery with a careful maceration. Fermentation takes place in vats at a controlled temperature and once it reaches the right level of sweetness, the process is stopped by adding wine alcohol. Finally, it ages for 84 months in oak barrels before being bottledThe 2009 Burmester Colheita Port is a classic wine of exceptional quality and elegance. The Port is made from a single harvest (a "Vintage Tawny") and aged in small 550-litre oak barrels in their Vila Nova de Gaia Cellars. It is bottled at least seven years after the harvest.

Colheita Port Storage and Serving Advice:
Colheita Port should be stored in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations, and the bottle should remain in an upright position. If stored correctly, Colheita Ports will keep for decades in the bottle. Over time, it is natural that a little sediment will form at the bottom of a bottle of Colheita Port wine. Once opened colheita Port should be stored in a fridge and should be consumed within 3 months. Best served at a temperature between 14 and 16°C.

The 2009 has a complex nose with dark berries, cress, coffee . Full-bodied and great balance. Smooth palate that reflects the nose. Very good length. Excellent.
