Description
The 2009 Palmer Port Colheita is a beautifully matured single-harvest Tawny Port, aged in seasoned oak casks to reveal the richness and depth of the 2009 vintage. Offering immediate drinking pleasure, it combines elegance, complexity and balance, making it a fine choice for connoisseurs and collectors. Enjoy now or cellar comfortably until 2035+.
Tasting Notes:
Amber-tawny with copper highlights. Aromas of dried apricot, figs, toasted walnuts and a touch of vanilla mingle with hints of spice. On the palate, layers of caramel, raisin and roasted almond are balanced by refreshing acidity. Smooth, rounded and harmonious, finishing with lingering notes of dried fruits, toffee and nutmeg.
Serving Tips & Storage
Colheita Ports are bottled ready to drink and do not require decanting. Best served slightly chilled (12–14°C) to enhance freshness and aromatics. A perfect match for almond tart, crème brûlée, pecan pie or mature cheeses such as Manchego and Comté. Once opened, the wine will remain in excellent condition for several weeks if stored upright in a cool place. Please store unopened bottles on their side, in a cool, dark space away from heat and light.
Palmer is an independent Port house with a reputation for producing traditional styles at outstanding value. Samuel Palmer, a late ancestor of the Van Zeller family – once owner of Casa de Malladas – was a maverick and a remarkable icon in the trade of high-quality Port shipped to England. Paying attention to every single detail, the Van Zeller family have carefully aged their wines in the highest quality oak casks to ensure that they mature these rare elixirs as Samuel Palmer once wanted them to be. Specialising in Colheitas, Tawnies and Aged Ports, Palmer sources its grapes from the Douro Valley’s schistous vineyards, crafting expressive, authentic wines that combine heritage with elegance.
