Description
Discover the Casa Burmester Reserva Red , a premium Douro wine that artfully blends tradition, elegance, and Portuguese character. Crafted from the classic trio of indigenous grapes—Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz—this Reserva is a shining example of modern Douro red winemaking at its finest.
On the nose, the wine unfolds layers of ripe red and black fruits—think cherries, berries, and cassis—interwoven with fragrant spice, balsamic notes, and delicate touches of vanilla from oak aging. The palate is equally compelling: rich, structured, and silky, with firm yet polished tannins, balanced acidity, and a graceful, lingering finish that echoes its fruit and spice profile.
Offering depth and finesse, this Reserva red undergoes 7-day maceration at chilled temperatures followed by 12 months of aging in French and American oak barrels, which infuse it with subtle complexity and smooth texture. The alcohol sits around 13.5%, making it approachable yet expressive, and ideal for both immediate enjoyment or short-term cellaring.
This wine pairs beautifully with red meats, game, roasted lamb, or aged hard cheeses, complementing their savoury richness while offering refreshing fruit balance. Scoring consistently well across vintages, it represents exceptional quality at accessible value.
Whether you’re exploring Portuguese reds for the first time or seeking a flavourful bottle for any occasion, Casa Burmester Reserva Red delivers sophistication, heritage, and delicious drinkability in every glass.
Burmester is one of the oldest and most respected Port houses in Portugal, founded in 1750 by Henry Burmester and John Nash in the city of Porto. Known for its traditional methods, Burmester produces a wide range of Ports, including Vintage, Late Bottled Vintage (LBV), Tawny, and White Ports. In addition to Ports, Burmester also creates still wines, particularly in the Douro DOC, with whites and reds gaining recognition for their quality.
