Description
The 1991 harvest in Portugal was steady and traditional, with Dão producing balanced reds built on native varieties such as Jaen (Mencía), Alfrocheiro, and Touriga Nacional. Grão Vasco was already an established brand by Sogrape, known for making approachable, authentic Dão wines that combined rustic character with a sense of place.
After three decades in bottle, this Grão Vasco shows a brick-garnet colour. The nose is mature and savoury, offering dried cherry, leather, tobacco leaf, and earthy spice. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, with softened tannins and mellow notes of red plum, cedar, and forest floor. The finish is smooth and understated — a gentle expression of traditional Dão winemaking from the early 1990s.
