Quinta Do Cachao Vintage Port

ABV: 20%
Price:

Description
A very rare bottle of Vintage Port from the notable 1965 Vintage. Unlike the cask-aged colheita ports from the same year, this wine has aged slowly in the bottle for more than fifty years. This is among the rarest category of ports- a port wine to be savoured and cherished on special occasions, celebrations, and moments of indulgence.
Tasting Notes
The 1965 Vintage has a medium intensity - amber with a hint of orange. On the nose the wine is clean, med to pronounced intensity, dried fruits, caramel, grenadine, mint and grilled nuts (hazelnut / almond). Sweet, med+ acidity that keeps it fresh and well balanced, full body, pronounced intensity, and superb length. Great way to end a long dinner. VWP Tasting May 2013.
Serving and Food pairing
Vintage Ports are best decanted and served slightly below modern room temperature: 16° to 18° C. This is the kind of wine that can be enjoyed now or aged even further to allow its flavours to develop and evolve over time. Whether you're sipping it on its own or pairing it with a rich dessert like chocolate mousse or a selection of aged cheeses, a vintage port is sure to be a memorable experience.

Reviews
Amber, with yellow rim. Amazing nose, oranges, slightly dried, menthol, caramels. Silky smooth entry, syrupy, great balance, rich mouthfeel. Massively long finish - lip-licking oranges. Review by the Port Forum (FlashUK)
