Description
The Quinta da Devesa 40-Year-Old Tawny Port is a distinguished expression from the Douro Valley, reflecting the estate's dedication to traditional winemaking and sustainable viticulture. Crafted from a blend of indigenous grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão, this tawny port is aged in oak casks for an average of 40 years, resulting in a complex and refined profile.
In the glass, it exhibits a deep mahogany hue with amber reflections. The nose is rich and layered, offering aromas of dried fruits, honey, balsam, cloves, shaved ginger, fig, and marjoram. On the palate, it is lively and bright, with flavors of spicy honeyed fruit, nutmeg, orange rind, black pepper, tamarind, and dried apricots, culminating in a long, elegant finish.
This tawny port has garnered critical acclaim, receiving 94 points from Robert Parker and Tasted Magazine. It also earned a Premium Gold Medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy in 2013 and a Gold Medal at AWC Vienna
For optimal enjoyment, serve slightly chilled, between 14ºC and 16ºC. It pairs wonderfully with crème brûlée, macadamia and vanilla ice creams, apple pie, and even foie gras. Once opened, it maintains its quality for at least two months when stored properly.
The Quinta da Devesa 40-Year-Old Tawny Port stands as a testament to the potential of aged tawny ports, offering a harmonious balance of freshness and complexity that appeals to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
