  • Description

A standout expression of the early 2000s Super Tuscan movement, this wine exemplifies Franchetti’s bold approach to Bordeaux varietals in Tuscany. Made predominantly from Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2000 vintage reflects the hot growing season with intense concentration and opulence. This bottle is drinking beautifully now, offering a seamless integration of fruit, oak, and age. Critics at the time praised its richness and potential longevity, and it's now considered a collector's gem for those seeking fully matured, iconic Italian reds.

Tenuta di Trinoro is not the result of a pre-established recipe, but of the inspiration and intuition of its producer. The 2000 Tenuta di Trinoro Toscana IGT is a bold, opulent Super Tuscan crafted by the visionary Andrea Franchetti.

    Tasting Notes:
This vintage showcases a deep, inky garnet colour with a powerful bouquet of blackberries, cassis, dried violets, cigar box, and exotic spice. On the palate, it's full-bodied and richly layered, featuring dense dark fruit, espresso, and graphite, wrapped in velvety tannins and a lingering finish. While mature, it still shows remarkable structure and depth, with tertiary notes of leather, truffle, and balsamic complexity emerging beautifully.

    Serving & Food Pairing:
Serve at 17–18°C after 1–2 hours of decanting to fully open its bouquet. Pairs beautifully with aged ribeye, venison, or truffle risotto. Also excellent alongside hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano.

    Robert Parker (Wine Advocate): 95/100
"Extraordinary intensity, great richness, a profound, multi-layered texture, and a finish that lasts for nearly a minute. This is compelling wine from a brilliant proprietor."

    Wine Spectator: 90/100
"Full-bodied, with sweet yet chewy tannins. Jammy, but very concentrated. More like an Amarone."

    Vinous: 95/100
"As hard as it may seem to believe, the 1998 Tenuta di Trinoro is even more concentrated than the 1997. Showing overt varietal Cabernet Franc notes on the nose, it is a more nuanced wine than its older sibling, with a deeply expressive core of sweet dark fruit that blossoms on the palate with exceptional length and superb persistence."
